Vivek Oberoi's hush hush meeting with former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi?

The actor is playing the role of a morally compromised boss in a money-churning cricket league.

Mumbai: After receiving a thunderous response to Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani produced first original show on Amazon, 'Inside Edge', the team is gearing up for its streaming that will happen on July 1.

The web series, which is loosely based on India’s biggest cricketing extravaganza Indian Premiere League (IPL), has Vivek Oberoi in the lead as a promiscuous boss of the Powerplay League, a T20 tournament.

While many reports have suggested that Vivek’s role has been inspired from disgraced former IPL Chairperson Lalit Modi, who was ousted in 2010 for alleged fraud and money laundering, the makers maintain that it is mostly a work of fiction.

We now hear that the actor did fly down to London, where Modi lives, for a hush hush meeting to get an essence of the kind of power a cricket/ corporate honcho should possess.

Our source says, “Vivek Oberoi wants to avoid controversy and doesn't want his secret meeting with ex IPL commissioner to come out. According to sources, while working on his webseries based on cricket, Vivek recently made a special trip to London to meet Lalit Modi to get into the skin of his character where he's playing a pivotal role in the series. As we all know, Vivek is controversies one of favourite child, he doesn't want to his meet to get disclosed to media and hence is keeping this visit a real close deal and only the close ones to Vivek see aware of this trip.”

Recently, a daily had claimed that a bondage scene between Richa Chadha (who plays an actress-turned-cricket team owner) and the Chairperson (played by Vivek) is allegedly based on the fling between Preity Zinta and Modi during one of the IPL seasons.

However, an irate Preity has refuted the news and called out the publication for allegedly circulating ‘fake news’.

Here is the trailer of the show:
