Journey into karnataka

Bollywood actor and city boy Zayed Khan has teamed up with his friend Sunil Singh to create a short film on our state.

Wanderlust is a bug that has struck us all. Zayed Khan, along with his buddy Sunil Singh, recently started their own production, in order to feed their as well as our thirst for travel!

The duo, along with their crew travelled through Karnataka for four days and documented their travels, to give us a little insight on what is in store, in the state. We got in touch with the duo and got a few anecdotes from them on their exciting journey.

Inquisitive about how the idea of checking out Karnataka sprouted up, Sunil Singh, says, “The idea was to create something small, which would be fun for us as well as entertaining for people.”

While the crew started off their journey in Karnataka, they plan to explore a number of places both in India, as well as abroad in the near future! But why start with Karnataka, we want to know.

“Why not Karnataka?” smiles Zayed in response. “For me, the trip had an emotional start. I wanted to check out Tipu Sultan’s palace and my dad’s studio, where the mishap happened while shooting the film. I had never seen the place it all started from,” says the avid traveller.

“The idea of travel is to be in search of culture, music and a quest for knowledge and that’s exactly what this trip was. I strongly believe in this one quote ‘you only find yourself when you are lost’, and I felt like this trip helped me do just that,” adds the actor who raved about the bird sanctuary in Mandya where one can be in close proximity with parrots!

“I thought the idea was very selfless – it was touching knowing that Swami Vivekanada created a sanctuary just for birds because that’s how much of an impact they left on his life!”

Apart from the Mysore palace and bird sanctuary, Zayed also managed to get sprayed with water, by elephants, ride on horses, and witness a mini Tibet, all in a span of four days! “I got to name one of the young elephants Joe, who is still being trained to be around human beings. It was surreal to be there and see the effort that goes into this training. You can’t buy such happiness, it just comes through experience,” says the actor excitedly who was also seriously impressed by the Infosys IT park.

“That’s the kind of education kids should be getting. Their approach is very holistic and I can’t help but hope all schools are like this so our children have better futures.”

Speaking up on travelling solo, rather than with his wife and kids, Zayed says, “Everybody needs a little space to get in touch with themselves and keep the spark going and be inspired. This trip was all about positivity and rediscovering our country. People travel to exotic locations abroad and I just want them to know about the many undected gem of places we have in our country,” he says signing off!
