It's tough to reinvent myself in this space: Tiger Shroff

Tiger Shroff recently treated fans and representatives of the media to a visual of the song Hum Aaye Hain from his Ganapath: A Hero is Born. He even shook a leg to the tune, while promoting the film. The event was held at Mumbai’s famous single theatre Gaiety and Galaxy, a trend set by Salman Khan with Jai Ho. Tiger talked to the audience about the action film.

“It is a different kind of film,” he said. “We show a different world altogether. The action is also different.” He explained that the action is ‘futuristic, and revolves around ‘the chosen one’ bringing peace and order to a divided world.

Responding to comparisons with Bruce Lee and Michael Jackson, Tiger said, “I am what I am because of all these icons. I push myself to perform better and raise the bar of action with every film. I want to entertain everyone.”

Talking about the pressure of being dubbed an ‘action superstar’, the actor said, “Yes, I do have to carry the title forward. I have completed 9 years in the industry and have done action in all my films. In Baghi 1, I fought with an entire building while in Baghi 2 I fought against a whole jungle. And in Baghi 3 I fought against the entire country. The stakes get higher and higher, the premise, the geography, the budgets and the landscapes get bigger and bigger. So, it’s tough to reinvent myself in this space. But I think there is still so much to explore.”

Regretting that he wasn’t able to share scenes with Amitabh Bachchan in the movie, Tiger however said he considers it a great honour to have got an opportunity to work on the same film as the ‘living legend’.

And significantly, he said, the film marks his reunion with the heroine Kriti Sanon — nine years after their debut film, Heropanti. I’m really excited about working with her,” he added. The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, and also features Big B in an important role.
