Mumbai: The sparks of the ‘nepotism debate’ triggered by Kangana Ranaut accusing the flamboyant filmmaker Karan Johar of practising it in Bollywood, were on the verge of extinction, that senior actress Simi Garewal ignited another debate?
The actress, who was at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, along with stalwarts Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Raveena Tandon, Konkona SenSharma, Malaika Arora, Rahul Bose, Rajkummar Rao, Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, Onir, Shootjit Sircar, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Sushant Singh Rajput among others from Bollywood.
Karan Johar received the prestigious award of ‘Leadership in Cinema Award’ at the Film Festival and also delivered a masterclass there. Mitu Bhowmick Lange, the fest's director, had said in a statement: "We are extremely honoured and glad to have Karan (Johar) be part of our festival this year. He is one of the most reputed filmmakers in India and is such a loved personality. We here in Melbourne and people of the city are looking forward for his masterclass which he will be delivering as part of the festival this year."
However, amidst all this, a tweet from Simi Garewal indicated that Karan Johar desired for more, even after delivering a masterclass, he asked the Festival’s director to let him host the following year’s show.
It was Simi Garewal, who hosted the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017.
She tweeted, "After I finished hosting IFFM Awards @karanjohar told Festival Director 'Next year I want to host the awards'! Another takeover?!"

Apparently, it was during Simi’s popular talk show’s peak phase, when Karan Johar came up with his ‘Koffee With Karan,’ which sort of took over her show.
Let’s see, if Karan chooses to respond to this tweet or simply avoid it!...
