Rio Olympics 2016: Salman to present each Indian athlete with Rs 1 lakh cheque
New Delhi: On Wednesday, Salman Khan said he would handout cheques of Rs 1.01 lakhs to the Indian athletes representing the nation at Rio Olympics.
The 50 year-old actor took to his twitter handle to make the announcement.
"As a gesture of appreciation for our Olympic athletes, I will present each one with a cheque of Rs 1, 01, 000," Khan tweeted.

He said the government has been supportive of every sportsperson and hence in order to encourage sports in the nation he decided to make his contribution.
"I admire the work that Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) is doing to shape tomorrow's champions," he tweeted.

The Sultan actor, who is the goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the Rio Olympics 2016, said every citizen of the country should do their bit to encourage sports.
When the star was appointed as the goodwill ambassador, he had come under scathing criticism.
Salman Khan was last seen in Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan. The actor recently wrapped the filming of Kabir Khan's Tubelight in Ladakh.
