Kalank box-office collection day 1: Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt\'s film mints Rs 21.60 cr

Mumbai: Producer Karan Johar's magnum opus 'Kalank', starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur, has emerged as the biggest opener of 2019 so far.

Kalank has made whopping Rs 21.6 crore on it's opening day. With more than 40 per cent occupancy, the multi-starrer has struck gold at the box office on first day of its release.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of the film. He tweeted, “#Kalank starts with a bang… Emerges biggest opener of 2019 *so far*… Plexes terrific… Impressive cast and hype + massive screen count [4000] + #MahavirJayanti holiday have contributed to a big total… Wed ₹ 21.60 cr. India biz.”

So far, 'Kalank' has gotten mixed to negative reviews from critics. It will be interesting to see how the film fares at the box office.

The period drama will not face any competition until the release of Hollywood superhero flick 'Avengers: Endgame' on April 26.
