Rakul Preet Singh hits back at haters on social media; read tweets

Offensive comments on social media are no longer being taken lying down. Recipients give trolls a dose of their own medicine.

Mumbai: Gone are the days when actresses would take online trolls lightly. That they are now quick to hit back at netizens if their comments are offensive, was something one troll, who tried to take a dig at actress Rakul Preet Singh with his mean comments, discovered!

Sharing a photograph of Rakul seen in hot pants, the netizen poked fun at her and said that she had forgotten to wear her pants after having a 'session' in the car.

While Rakul’s fans and well wishers lambasted the troll on social media, the actress stepped in herself to give it back.

“I think your mother does a lot of sessions in the car so you are an expert!! Ask her to give u some sense also besides these session details...till the time people like this exist women can't be safe…just debating about equality and safety won't help.. #sickmind (sic)”, tweeted Rakul.

Apparently, the actress says that her reply was a ‘typical girl’s reply’.

“I woke up to that tweet and naturally I was very angry. It was a girl’s reply, an emotional and instinctive one,” she says, adding, “If we are asked to keep quiet as a child, teenager and as a celebrity, then when will we speak? And as a celebrity, I felt it is my responsibility to react, and I would have definitely slapped him, had I come face to face.”

Rakul goes on to say, “Another reason I replied strongly was because I don’t want him to repeat such a thing with other women. We slog the whole day, and we keep seeing such abuses daily. So it’s natural that we get annoyed. We are all humans at the end of the day.”While Rakul’s stinging reply has won praise from the majority, a few have criticised her for drawing a reference to a ‘mother’.

“I am sure his mother would have slapped him had she seen that tweet,” she asserts, adding, “The reason I used such words was to make such sick minds realise that they too have a family. How would they feel if such a comment is passed at them. And those who are questioning my ethics, why don’t they speak up when women are objectified.”

Seems like the actress’s reply found its mark as the user promptly deleted the offensive tweet!
