Mumbai: Deepika Padukone launched the biography of Bollywood’s dream girl Hema Malini at the event in Mumbai. The biography, titled Beyond The Dream Girl, is written by veteran journalist Ram Kamal Mukherjee, and was unveiled on Hema Malini's 69th birthday which also marked her 50 glorious years in the film industry. Hema Malini's daughters Esha and Ahana Deol were also present at the launch along with their husbands Bharat Takhtani and Vaibhav Vohra respectively, her niece actress Madhoo and industry colleagues Ramesh Sippy, Juhi Chawla and Subhash Ghai. However, her actor husband Dharmendra wasn't present at the event. Deepika Padukone, who graced the event with her presence looked ravishing red Banarasi sari by Sabyasachi Mukerjee and accentuated her look with gold necklace, bangles and earrings. Hema Malini wore attractive blue sari.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the biography’s foreword. Author Ram Kamal Mukherjee, a former Bollywood journalist and TV show producer, wrote a coffee-table book on actress Hema Malini, Hema Malini Diva Unveiled in 2005, who is a big fan of the Dream Girl, thinks that the evergreen star has an interesting story to tell - A story of independence, fierceness, love and talent.

When asked why is the book called ‘Beyond the Dream Girl’, Ram mentioned, “Ramesh Sippy has summed this up beautifully. He has said that Hema Malini was launched as a Dream Girl in Sapno Ka Saudagar, but after that, with her own life and her understanding of cinema, she showed the world who the true Hema Malini is. She has never been the bra-burning feminist, but has lived her life by her rules, and worked on her own terms.”

It was a moment of triple celebration for the actress with the book launch, 69th birthday and completion of 50 years in Bollywood. “This is the happiest day of life and I thank all my well-wishers,” Hema said.

The book launch was followed with birthday cake cutting ceremony alongside Hema’s family. A special video was played in which the industry colleagues and friends like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Vyjayanthimala, Jackie Shroff and many others others wished Hema Malini.
