Manoj Bajpayee made his acting guru Barry John cry

The actor portrays the heart touching story of 64-year-old gay professor Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras.

Mumbai: With the sudden shockwaves with his intense role in Hansal Mehta’s 'Aligarh', actor Manoj Bajpayee was flooded with enormous appreciations but who made Manoj Bajpayee overwhelmed with pride is his mentor Barry John. The two times national award winner, Manoj Bajpayee recently held a private screening of Aligarh, where he portrays the heart touching story of 64- year-old gay professor Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who is detained from his job due to his sexual orientation. According to an eyewitness at the private screening, Barry John came to Manoj with tears of joy in his eyes and a heart filled with a gratification for his awe-inspiring performance in 'Aligarh'.

When contacted Manoj, he said, “He came to me after seeing the film and hugged me so tightly. He was in tears and didn’t say anything for about 10 minutes. He was almost choked. Later, he said he was deeply touched after watching my performance. I felt I already achieved my award. I am glad that I lived up to his expectations.”
