Doctorate for actress Jaya Prada from Vignan University

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bennis said that from ancient times, India taught humanity and tolerance to the people.

GUNTUR: Prof. Fouad Bennis, director for International Relations, Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France, praised India as the best country of the world due to its tradition, culture and morals. Vignan University Guntur conferred Honorary Doctorates (Honoris Causa) to three eminent personalities, Prof. Fouad Bennis, Pancha Sahasra Avadhani Dr Medasani Mohan and Classical dancer, cine actress, politician and social worker Jaya Prada during its fourth convocation here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bennis said that from ancient times, India taught humanity and tolerance to the people. So, it became a mix of various religions reflecting the greatness of unity in diversity. Lame-nting about the decrease of family relations, human values and shunning of morals due to technological change, he said but India is the best country where the public, besides adopting technology, is maintaining family relations, human values and following morals. Dr Mohan said that the VU awarded honorary doctorate not to him but to Telugu language and asserted on the need for protecting mother tongue. Ms Jaya Prada said that she was fortunate to be born a Telugu woman which gave her a chance to climb to top positions in cine industry and politics. She said suggested students to work hard to fulfill their dreams.
