Birthday Special: Here's how Prasoon Joshi's work celebrates India and its heroes
It is a special day for poet, writer, lyricist and CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi as he celebrates his birthday today. But the lyricist-writer himself has celebrated India giving voice to heroes. Here are few of his noted works:
- Rang De Basanti
Prasoon Joshi coined the dialogues of Rang De Basanti and all we want to do now is stand up and salute him for giving us gems like “Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hote hain, ek jo ho rha hai hone do, bardaast karte jao. Ya fir zimmedari uthao use badalne ki,” or “Ab bhi jiska khoon na khaula, khoon nahi wo pani hai. Jo Desh ke kaam na aaye woh bekar jawani hai,” to remember throughout life.
- Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Milkha Singh’s legendary biopic, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, starring Farhan Akhtar as Milkha, was actually written by Prasoon Joshi.
Doing brilliant work with writing lyrics for the songs like ‘Jeete Hai Chal’ or ‘Aankhen Milaayenge Darr Se’ of this Sonam Kapoor starrer National Award winning film was Prasoon Joshi.
The powerful Satyagraha title track and other songs evoked a sense of patriotism and passion. They were also penned by the now CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi.
The upcoming Kangana Ranaut’s directorial debut film Manikarnika songs will be Prasoon’s first movie where he wrote lyrics for songs post becoming the head of CBFC.
