I changed Dilwale's script to cater to the fans of SRK and Kajol: Rohit Shetty

Rohit Shetty also confessed that Dilwale was the only film he didn't make with conviction.

Mumbai: Rohit Shetty is a filmmaker with gargantuan mass appeal and this is no secret. He doesn't mince words ehen it comes to putting his perspectives across, which is no secret either.

In a recent interview with Komal Nahta, the director upon queried on the underwhelming response to 'Dilwale' and his perceived subsequent friction with lead actor Shah Rukh Khan, the 'Golmaal' director was candour personified.

The director vehemently denied the existence of any sort of unpleasantness with SRK. He went on to elaborate that since he gets credited for the success of his innumerable blockbusters, he should also be held responsible for the failure of 'Dilwale'.

Rohit confessed, "Dilwale is the only film I have made without conviction, yet. I got intimidated by the need to cater to Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's massive fan following. The initial film was to be a tri-hero project about three brothers and Kajol's track was to be of a mere four to five scenes. This change was also by my own willful voluntariness. We went wrong with it, in the process.

"Critics, friends and others would come to meet me and tell me that they'd gone to the theatre to watch my brand of film, which wasn't what they saw," he added.

He also went on to talk about his much publicised and hyped remake of the 80's cult his, 'Ram Lakhan'.

"We finished the scripting of 'Ram Lakhan' and started approaching the current crop of young actors in Bollywood. But all of them were apprehensive about doing a two-hero project and wanted to do a solo film with me. But the lesson I learnt from 'Dilwale' made me stick to my conviction and I decided to keep the script aside, temporarily," he quipped unabashedly.

Rohit confirmed that at the moment he's only rolled 'Golmaal 4' and a solo project with a young star.

Love his movies or hate them, you can't ignore this man's honesty.
