Shahid Kapoor fights against Udta Punjab online leak, warns fans about virus

Apparently, the entire movie, which has a running time of 2 hours 20 minutes, is doing the rounds on torrent sites.

Mumbai: Abhishek Chaubey's ‘Udta Punjab’, which was locked in a bitter battle with the Censor Board, has reportedly been leaked online just two days ahead of its scheduled release in theatres.

Shocking: Udta Punjab movie leaked online?

Approximately 40 minutes of the movie footage is available online with 'for censor' written on the top left corner. There are reports that the entire movie, which has a running time of 2 hours 20 minutes, is doing the rounds on torrent sites.

Shahid Kapoor took to his social networking handle and wrote spoke about the efforts put in to bring the film to life. He also warned his fans about the virus that causes your systems to crash on downloading the film.

Producer Anurag Kashyap too took to his social networking handle and asked people to wait till Saturday and then decide to not pay for the film.

Several others urged the audiences to watch the film in theatres and not support piracy.

When contacted a source from the film's team said they have managed to remove the leaked links. With major chunks of the film now available online, it is suspected if it is an attempt to sabotage it. But this is not the first time that Anurag Kashyap's movie has been leaked. Earlier, clips of his short film featuring Radhika Apte was also leaked.

The film's co-producer Anurag Kashyap was at the forefront of the fight against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which had asked for multiple cuts in the drug-themed drama.

The producers had moved the Bombay High Court against the board's decision. The court cleared the film for release with just one cut and a revised disclaimer. However, now an NGO has appealed Supreme Court questioning the Bombay High Court verdict.

‘Udta Punjab’ stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh and is slated to hit the theatres on June 17th, 2016.
