It is a fictitious story: Priya Prakash Varrier on Sridevi Bunglow'

Mumbai: Priya Prakash Varrier became the talk of the entire glitz and glamour world - nationally and internationally, when her sensuous wink and cute smile in the video song, "Manikya Malaraya Poovi" saw the dawn. The viral video made this young girl famous over night...From common people boys, youth old and all turned berserk commenting on social media. Priya became the overnight social media rage.

When Priya was in Mumbai for the launch of her movie titled "Sridevi Bungalow", she spoke exclusively to Deccan Chronicle. Excerpts:

With your debut film to launch today titled "Sridevi Bungalow". What do you have to say?

Well, I am very excited for my debut film. And also tensed. Not that I am scared but anyone in my position being my first film world feel tensed lie I am feeling right now.

And why did you choose to work with Prashanth Mambully?

Many directors were approaching to debut in their film. No sooner did Prashanth sir approached me and narrated the story in just one line I felt this was the right film for me to debut.

What is that one thing in the story that you liked?

The story is based on a female super star. And I was happy to get to play this role. The entire story focuses on the super star. Obviously for me to get such a meaty role as my debut film …why would I say "No" to it.

Is the story line inspired by any super star from the Tollywood or Bollywood? Is it inspired by the late actress Sridevi?

I don’t think it is inspired from any one. It is a fictitious story. I liked the story during the narration itself.

How much of shoot is complete by now? You are just a beginner and performing super star what home work have you one?

We shot for three four days in London. We will continue shooting probably by the end of this month again. Most of the shoot will be completed the scenic locations of London only. Thus we are here in Mumbai for the teaser launch. Performing as a super star I will go with the flow of the scenes and as the Captain of the ship will ask me to perform. I have not thought over it yet.

Did you always wish to become an actor?

Yes, indeed I was very determined of taking up acting. I am lucky that my parents supported me. I am very close to my dad Mr. Prakash and so he has accompanied me to Mumbai for this teaser launch. My mom had to stay back home as I have a younger brother and he has to go to School.

Coming to her wink that went viral….Your sensuous wink attracted the young boys and all, don’t you think you ignited that feelings of love for you amongst the young boys especially?

Well! When we were shooting the song, I was just told to wink & smile. I did it with utter simplicity now if everyone finds it sensuous and cute then it’s their take. I just did my job with perfection and in a simple way.

But have you ever met over enthusiastic fans while walking on streets anywhere in your home town or elsewhere?

No. I have never been man handled at all. I have been received with great respect. Whatever I did was my performance which I was asked to do. There is nothing wrong in expressing yourself true to your reel character. After all we are actors and are supposed to give our best. I gave my hundred percent.

Are you able to walk freely everywhere in the crowd?

Yes, I walk everywhere freely. There has never been any problem what so ever. I still walk the streets do my shopping and also eat in the restaurants’.

We hear you were in Mumbai & before the launch of your debut film you met all the bollywood stars?

Yes, I watched URI recently. I met my favourite hero none other than Ranveer Singh. I went up to him to wish him. I was very happy that he recognized me and he said, "I liked your wink.” I felt very enthused to hear this…what more could I ask for more!
