The film, helmed by Shaad Ali, is an official remake of Mani Ratnam's 'OK Kanmani'.

Mumbai: Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor's return to the big-screen after the uber-successful 'Aashiqui 2,' has gotten off to disastrous start at the box-office.

'OK Jaanu,' helmed by Shaad Ali, had a lot running on it, being the first big release of 2017.

However, the film has failed to live up to its expectations, despite of being an AR Rahman musical.

The film, an official remake of Mani Ratnam's 'OK Kanmani,' couldbarely manage a paltry 3.50 crore rupee gross (approx.) on Friday and another 4.25 crore gross on Saturday, according to boxofficeindia(dot)com.

The film managed an even wore 4 crore gross (approx) on Sunday, taking its opening weekend total to a meagre 11.75 crore rupees approximately.

'OK Jaanu,' which released alongside Shlok Sharma's Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer 'Haraamkhor,' also faced competition from Vin Diesel-Deepika Padukone's 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage,' over the weekend.

The film is highly unlikely to recover its cost hereon, and the year has gotten off to a disastrous start for Bollywood.
