The ninth annual re-union of actors and actresses of the 1980s celebrating friendship and togetherness in the film fraternity was a gala affair in the city. This year’s theme was ‘denim and diamonds’. As many as 22 stars from across the southern states and Bollywood, including Poonam Dhillon and Jackie Shroff, were present at the do.
The venue was embellished with denim material covering the furniture and curtains. Mannequins wearing denim outfits and white flowers were part of the scene. Nina Reddy was behind these decorations.
The male stars were looking dapper in white shirts and blue jeans and a few like Jackie Shroff wore denim jackets too. M’town superstar Mohanlal, who has never missed the reunion, had come all the way from Portugal to attend. The actor was seen sporting a custom-made white shirt with the number 80 embroidered on the front and back.
Poonam Dhillon gifted all the guests with personalised mobile phone covers with their photos and names on it.
Naresh, Sathyaraj and Jayaram paid tribute to Sivaji Ganesan, MGR and Kamal Haasan respectively. The ladies performed the Telugu song Inkem Inkem from Geetha Govindam. Mohanlal conducted a virtual Kerala Onam Boat race to the tune of a traditional Malayalam song. A few stars were seen rowing a boat with Mohanlal as the skipper.
Rajkumar Sethupathy, Suhasini Maniratnam, Khushbu, Poornima and Lissy Lakshmi played the perfect hosts to their 1980s colleagues.
