I am too young to get into a relationship: Sayyeshaa Saigal

Sayyeshaa Saigal, Dilip Kumar's grand-niece, makes her Hindi debut with Shivaay.

The grand-niece of thespian Dilip Kumar, Sayyeshaa is making heads turn in three film industries —Telugu, Tamil and Hindi — and will soon be seen in the much awaited Ajay Devgn movie, Shivaay. Sayyeshaa already has two Tamil films in her kitty and has already acted in a Telugu film. About Shivaay, Sayyeshaa says, “It is an honour to play such a pivotal character for Ajay sir’s directorial project. I identify with the character and am quite like her in real life as well.” The actress admits, “I always wanted to work in films from my childhood, and do not fear the cameras at all.”

She is all praise for director and co-actor, Ajay Devgn. “Ajay is an experienced and polished actor. As a director, everything was well planned, and he was ready with the call sheet and screenplay. Everything was in place.” So, did he offer her any advice on the sets of Shivaay? “Ajay told me to be natural in front of the cameras.” She adds, “He is a very calm and humble person. Even if something went wrong, he would never show it.”

This youngster knows her mind. Unlike her mom Shaheen, who married very young, Sayyeshaa says she does not want to get married so soon. “I am focussed on my work and want to make my career first. Also, I am too young to get into a relationship. I am not dating anyone nor am I keen on tying the knot soon.” She adds, “My mother always told me that she has no regrets having married so early. She is happy to have a family and me as her daughter.”

Sayyeshaa admits that she is very close to her parents. “I meet my dad, Sumeet, almost every day. Both my parents tell me to be focussed, work hard and leave the rest to God. I only wish and pray that people like my performances in all my films.” With Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil releasing on the same day, the stage is set for a clash. Sayyeshaa says, “I am too young to know about the trade and cannot be compared to icons like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the cast of ADHM. However, both the films are of different genres and will have their audiences.”

The young actress confesses, “The only insecurity I have is whether people will like me. I request people to like my film and my performance. Only then, will I be able to go far in this world of glitz and glamour.”
