Salman's entire family has adopted me as one of their own: Nawazuddin

Despite Salman’s recent gaffe of calling Nawazuddin Siddiqui ‘Nawazuddin Shah’, the trailer launch of Freaky Ali saw Bhai’s family showering affection on the movie’s lead.

An emotional Nawaz says that he’s close to Salman’s family now. “Not just Salman, with whom I hit it off during Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but his entire family has adopted me as one of their own. Besides Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail and even their sister Arpita and Alvira are warm and hospitable.”

Nawaz says that shooting for Sohail’s Freaky Ali was a treat. “I haven’t felt this light, warm and stress-free shooting for any other film in my career. We were like one family; we never knew when the shooting started and ended.”

In fact, mistakes during the shoot were even laughed off. “There was a glaring continuity lapse during shooting, when the sweater I was wearing for a sequence was missing from a shot and we had to redo the entire thing. But Sohail and the whole team just laughed it off.”

It was also a learning experience for Nawaz, who plays a lingerie salesman in the film and ends up being a golf pro. “I had no idea about how underwear is sold or golf is played. I learned both for this film. Now, I’m addicted to golf; it’s a game that puts you closest to your own self and to nature. You don’t need a companion to play it. It’s the most peaceful game on the planet.”

As far as Freaky Ali goes, Nawaz claims that it’s his most lighthearted movie. “Shooting and working with Arbaaz and Sohail. Arbaaz plays a very important role in the film made me happy; you’ll be surprised at how effective he is.”
