Apparently this was the logic that Saif Ali Khan offered Kareena Kapoor for breaking the intimacy clause in their marriage when Kareena agreed to star in Balki’s Ki & Ka.
And that’s how Kareena overcame her own inhibitions. Interestingly, Kareena’s mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, who has always been leaps and bounds ahead of her times, is also enormously encouraging of Kareena’s efforts to keep her marital status separate from her career.
One of Sharmila’s best roles after marriage was Bhim Sain’s Dooriyaan . It was about a woman trying to balance her marriage with a career. Says a source close to the family, “Kareena and her mother-in-law often discuss how important it is for a woman to continue her career after marriage with the help of a supportive spouse.”
In fact that’s what Ki & Ka is about too.
