On his 51st birthday, Aamir Khan’s wish is to buy his mother’s childhood house and gift it to her.
Looking fit as a fiddle in his sea-facing house in Mumbai, a moustachioed Aamir says, “My mom is almost 80 years old... I want to buy her childhood house and gift it to her. In fact, my biggest wish is not the success of Dangal (his upcoming film) but to buy my mom her childhood home in Banaras. I want her to experience her childhood home and want her to revisit the place.”
He adds, “When I travelled to Banaras, I visited the Assi Ghat. I also had the opportunity of seeing her house. I thought then, ‘Wish Ammi’s house was mine.’ I thought if I could request the people living there... It would make me very happy if I could have a home in Banaras.”
From his mother, the discussion shifts to his son Azad and wife Kiran. “This birthday Azad and Kiran were the first ones to wish me. Azad had made this t-shirt and Kiran got it printed for me,” he says, pointing to the t-shirt he is wearing.
What are his birthday plans? “I’ll spend time with my family and in the evening my brother and two sisters will meet me at my mother’s place, we will have a small family get-together.”
