Phir Hera Pheri director and actor Neeraj Vora passes away after prolonged illness

The actor, writer and filmmaker died after he had slipped into coma following a heart attack in October 2016.

Mumbai: Neeraj Vora, actor and director of films like ‘Phir Hera Pheri,’ passed away at a suburban Mumbai hospital at 4am on Thursday. He was 54.

Vora had been severely ill after suffering a heart attack, which was followed by a brain stroke in Delhi last year.

He was admitted to AIIMS in the capital, but later slipped into coma.

As his condition didn’t show any signs of improvement, producer Firoz Nadiadwala, for whom Vora had written ‘Hera Pheri’ and directed ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, airlifted him to Mumbai in March.

Since then Vora has been living at Nadiadwala’s home with several doctors regularly visiting him.

Vora was last seen in Nadiadwala’s ‘Welcome Back’ in 2015.

Some of his other notable works include directing Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Khiladi 420’, writing for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal’ and acting in films like 'Bol Bachchan', 'Dhadkan', 'Pukar', 'Rangeela', 'Daud' among others.

‘Hera Pheri’ and 'Phir Hera Pheri' actor and politician Paresh Rawal was among those who took to Twitter to express his grief about Vora’s demise.
