I was apprehensive about matching up to Tiger's skills, says Shraddha Kapoor
Shraddha Kapoor is raring to go with her next film, the soon-to-be-released Baaghi. She had a good year in 2015 with ABCD 2 and this year, she has a handful of projects to look forward to. The actress truly believes that Baaghi will break new barriers for her, as this is the first time she has done some heavy-duty action stunts for a film. As we catch up with her to chat about her new film, she also gets talking about her life off-screen, how much of a role her father Shakti Kapoor has played in her career and more. Excerpts from an interview:
Despite a dull start with your debut, Luv Ka The End, you have come a long way and built your brand. How does it feel?
Of course, it a big high since it was my childhood dream and I am living it today. Every morning I wake up and thank the universe. I am thankful that my first failure taught me to stay humble and grounded.
This year seems pretty packed for you…
Life has been a roller coaster ride. With films like Baaghi, Rock On 2 and Ok Janu in my kitty, I feel life is moving so fast. I am also doing a cameo in Flying Jatt.
Do you believe that Baaghi will change your girl-next-door image?
I think it takes talent to do something that connects with the audience. We have worked very hard on the film and I hope people will like the action I have done on screen. I am looking forward to see their reaction.
What was going on in your mind while doing those stunts?
I was nervous in the beginning but I was excited too. I was apprehensive about matching up to Tiger’s skills since he is so perfect in his stunts. But he helped me a lot. And I like to do physical activities and challenge myself.
Tell us more about Tiger as a co-star.
He is so high on energy and he hasn’t changed one bit. He used to play basketball on the sets and he has a very wicked sense of humour. But what’s best about him is that he is very passionate and focused on whatever he does.
Are you looking forward to be tagged as the new bikini babe in Bollywood?
(Laughs) I never knew that there is a tag like that. I hope the feedback stays positive. So far, the response to the trailer has been tremendous.
Tell us a little about what life is like off-screen?
I really love watching films of course. And I love the outdoors, spending time in open spaces like gardens etc. Off late, I have been playing the piano — I had to take lessons for Rock On 2. And I love to doodle as well.
What role has your father played in your career?
He will always be my inspiration. The best way that he helped me was by never using his influence towards my benefit. He could have made a few calls for me and it would have all worked out very smoothly. But he never did that.
Do you take advice from other members in your family while making movie choices?
My family never tells me what to do or what not to do and I love them for that. I am free to take my decisions but yes, I do seek advice whenever required.
Do you wish to move in to your own place someday?
It is so difficult to maintain a house. Besides, I love staying with my family, so I don’t have such plans as of now.
