Banita reveals why she signed October and the reason is neither Varun nor Shoojit

All of 19, Banita Sandhu is confident and hardworking; her co-star Varun Dhawan may treat her like a kid.

The freshest face in Hindi cinema, Indo-British actress Banita Sandhu will be seen essaying a sensitive and emotional role in Shoojit Sarcar’s October, opposite Varun Dhawan. The film is set to release next month, and during its recent trailer launch, Varun kept vouching for the Punjabi NRI kudi thinking she is new to the industry.

But, not one to shy away despite being a newbie, Banita frankly answered the volley of questions thrown at her.

On getting the chance to debut with a director like Shoojit, the 19-year-old happily says, “I am happy to be a part this film. Debuting with Shoojit sir indeed makes me feel that I need to do yet another film with him.”

Further, talking about the role she plays in the romantic drama, the actress shares, “Whether the character suffers memory loss or something else, you will have to wait and watch the film to find out! I play a sensitive, emotional person in the film.

“In fact, playing this role was a challenge, a Herculean task! Shoojit sir was so clear in whatever he expected from me and explained it so very clearly, sometimes on Skype, that I it made it easier for me to enact the role to the best of my ability.”

What’s interesting is that Banita did the film “only because I wanted to make some money”. She reveals, “Being a student and making some quick bucks while learning was important for me!”

And how did she spend her first earning? Shopping?

“No shopping at all! All the money I earned was spent towards paying the rent, etc,” she smiles.
