Farhan backs out of Ajay's Jigarthanda remake; Abhishek to replace him?
Abhishek Bachchan may not have signed too many projects in 2017, but he is taking baby steps towards choosing the right project. According to our source, Bachchan Jr will step into Farhan Akhtar’s shoes in the Jigarthanda remake, since the latter chose to walk out of the project.
“Ever since Farhan decided to not be part of this project, the makers were looking at the right casting. Abhishek has been approached for this film, and he seems to have liked the script,” a source close to the film said.
Reportedly, Farhan and Sanjay Dutt were supposed to play the roles of an assistant director and a gangster respectively, in the remake of the Tamil movie Jigarthanda, which has also bagged a National Award. The remake will be helmed by Nishikant Kamat.
The original Tamil film was based on an assistant director (played by Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth), who gets fired from a reality TV show. He then decides to make a film on real-life gangster Assault Sethu (played by Bobby Simhaa).
