Learnt from my inspiration, says Shivaleeka Oberoi

Rising star Shivaleeka Oberoi says there have been many sources of inspiration in her professional life, chiefly Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, and Salman Khan, on whose Kick she worked as Assistant Director.

An outsider in the film industry, Shivaleeka says “I have had very humble beginnings as my journey in films started as an assistant director.” She worked on Kick in 2014, and Housefull-3 followed in 2016. “I did a lot of things. In short, I was getting all the technical know-how in varied spheres of filmmaking,” she said.
Shivaleeka recollects that “When on sets, I would be closest to Salman. I watched him doing the tiniest thing which would take the scene to another level. That learning I implement when I work in front of the cameras.”

“Whatever I have learned behind the cameras, I learnt from Sajid Sir,” she adds, saying this learning too has enabled her to give her best in front of the cameras.

Shivaleeka was nominated for an award for her debut film Yeh Sali Aashique. “It was after I was nominated that I was recognised. Everyone kept speaking about my work. I may have missed the award but I got so many fans – this recognition has helped me steer my career,” she explains.

Meanwhile, Shivaleeka will next be seen in Khuda Haafiz. “I play Nargis, a Muslim girl, while Samir, a Hindu boy, is played by Vidyut Jammwal. The movie shows how far love can take you,” reveals the actress.

Shivaleeka has been reading scripts during the lock down. “There are a few opportunities coming through,” she tells us.
