Watch trailer: Varun, Anushka's Mad in India' venture Sui Dhaaga is high on emotions
Mumbai: One of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most popular slogans or initiatives, Make in India, gets a cinematic mention in Sharat Katariya’s ‘Sui Dhaaga: Made in India.’
The trailer was unveiled on Monday and the film seems high on emotions, drama, love, family values and most likely carries an important message.
Varun aka Mauji is a good-for-nothing, unemployed man, and embarrasses his family and himself with his behaviour, which includes acting like a dog at his friend’s wedding.
His wife Anushka Sharma aka Mamta, who’s busier tending to his mother, is equally irritated by his antics and pleads with him to do something for a living.
Varun takes up the only thing he knows, sewing, and the couple head to the city with the sewing machine.
After initial hiccups, things start looking up for the couple as they get jobs based on their skills.
From the looks of it, the film traces how ‘Made in China’ tags on the clothes they worked on, prompts them to come with their own venture of textiles named ‘Sui Dhaaga: Mad in India’ and how their journey, filled with distress, panic, helplessness and happiness, furthers their love.

This drama seems to be in the same zone as Katariya’s last film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ in appearance due to the rural setting and story being about a couple.
The lead pair looks good together and extremely convincing with their acts in the trailer.
After Varun’s non-commercial avatar in ‘October’, the actor seems to have another role to showcase his acting potential and after ‘Pari’s fierce avatar, Anushka has another meaty part.
‘Sui Dhaaga: Made in India’, also featuring Raghubir Yadav, Namit Das, among others, with music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Varun Grover, produced by Maneesh Sharma and presented by Yash Raj Films, hits the theatres on September 28.
