A lot has been written about the Arjun Kapoor-Kareena jodi in Ki & Ka since Kareena is elder to him. And it was enough for the media to go into a frenzy when Arjun said recently that Kareena was his childhood crush.
So, how was it kissing his childhood crush? We ask Arjun. “At the outset, let me say that she is theoretically not my childhood crush. I don’t even remember saying this. But seriously, when I was 15, Kareena had debuted with Refugee… she was only 18 years old. So there is not much difference in our ages.”
He adds, “About kissing, seriously man, it’s really not as romantic as we make it look on screen. Kissing your co-actor in front of 100 people is really mechanical. We have to take care of lights and camera angles and how much our face is tilting and so many other things. At times it may seem on-screen that we are really deep into the act but that’s what it’s all about, making the audience feel that it’s real. Reel smooches are part of our work… How can they be romantic? There is no connect… they are disjointed kisses.”
“We needed the equation of a married couple… Do we as husband and wife, not kiss while leaving for office or before leaving home? So it’s all about that,” he adds.
