Aamir Khan's next, biopic on cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma, to be called Salute?

The actor's much hyped film on the Ashok Chakra awardee will now have a different title.

Mumbai: After the success of ‘Dangal’, superstar Aamir Khan is reportedly all set to play the role of Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to fly into space.

From past few months, grapevine has been abuzz with news of ‘Dangal’ star Aamir Khan doing a biopic on the Cosmonaut who spent seven days, twenty-one hours and technical studies, that also included forty-three experimental sessions, in space becoming the first ever Indian to achieve that feat and include the country’s name in elite list as the 14th nation to have sent a man into space.

The film was initially rumoured to be titled ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achha’, Sharma’s response to the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi’s question asking how India looked from outer space. The makers, however, have changed the title to ‘Salute’.

The film, reportedly co-produced by Aamir and Siddharth Roy Kapur, will release in 2018.

“Sid had approached Aamir with the script of his last film and this time too he went straight to him. The 2018 film will be made under his newly-launched banner RK Films (Roy Kapur Films). It will be directed by Mahesh Mathai,” revealed a source to a leading daily. Mathai is a well-known figure in the advertisement world and has directed ‘Bhopal Express’ in the past.

Roy Kapur and Aamir are yet to confirm this news.
