Sonam Kapoor's Neerja was never banned in Pakistan
Karachi: Sonam Kapoor's 'Neerja' that is based on real incidents during the hijacking of the Pan Am Flight 73 at the Karachi airport in 1986, has been banned in Pakistan, but the Central Board of Film Certification claims that it never banned the flick.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the NOC for the film's import was revoked by the federal commerce ministry soon after the document was issued, reports the Express Tribune.
However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) maintains their stand that the film should not be considered as banned in Pakistan.
A CBFC official said, "Neerja was never imported nor submitted to us for reviewing in the first place. Banning the film is out of the question."
Directed by Ram Madhavi, the film will hit the theatres on February 19.
