Deadpool is the winner at the box office; Fitoor and Sanam Re have a dull start

A lot of efforts went behind promoting 'Fitoor' and 'Sanam Re', which till the day of the release didn’t get enough buzz. Both the films had advantage over their songs, which got the film some momentum. However on Friday, both 'Sanam Re' and 'Fitoor' opened to a very dull response.

The occupancy was as less as 15 percent and the word of mouth for both the films hasn’t helped either. According to the makers, the first day collections of 'Sanan Re' and 'Fitoor' are 5.04 cr and 3.61 cr respectively. 'Sanam Re' directed by Divya Khosla Kumar has been budgeted around approximately 20 cr. However Fitoor produced by UTV has been made for close to 70 cr. By this trend, it looks difficult for the makers of 'Fitoor' to recover their investment. 'Sanam Re' opened to 2000 screens, whereas 'Fitoor' opened to 1200 screens.

Coming to the winner of Friday, it is undoubtedly 'Deadpool' directed by Tim Miller. The film collected approximately 4.10 cr but it had half the number of screens compared to the other Bollywood release. Which means 'Deadpool' had more occupancy on the day of its release compared to 'Fitoor' and 'Sanam Re'. Also, the Hollywood release has an advantage of good reviews and a positive word of mouth.

By Monday, it will be interesting too see which film emerges as a clear winner. Even though 'Deadpool' is not a typical love story, it still manages to become the ideal film for lovers this Valentine's despite two romantic flicks, Sanam Re and Fitoor.
