Even after death, Om Puri seems to be making as much news as he did in his last few years. Controversies haven’t stopped haunting the man even in death. Apparently, he was upset during the last few days of his life and had been drinking and getting emotional. He seems to have had a premonition about his impending death. He had even told his wife, Nandita Puri, that she should join him in heaven.
He couldn’t get over his image being tarnished over his soldier remarks. To make amends, he had even done a havan with a martyred soldier’s family but even that was misconstrued as a publicity gimmick. The veteran actor died pining for his son. And now the statements made by Nandita about still being legally married to him and that Om Puri had only one wife, is perhaps a precursor of a legal battle for property and other rights. With such disturbing events unfolding, we can only pray for his soul to rest in peace.
