Adivi Sesh, Shruti Haasan team up

Shaneil Deo to helm pan-India action drama

In perhaps one of the biggest collaborations of recent times, Adivi Sesh, who has back-to-back hits, has announced a pan-India action drama produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and directed by Shaneil Deo. Shruti Haasan has been cast opposite Sesh in the action entertainer.

The film also marks Sesh’s second Hindi film after his 2022 blockbuster biopic Major. “I feel glad to be working with another great team with a huge canvas,” says Sesh, adding that the film would be shot separately and simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. Sesh, who is also sharing the story and screenplay credits, says the film would be treated differently to suit the sensibilities of each culture.

He is excited to team up with Shruti Haasan and describes her as a ‘powerhouse of talent.’ “Yes, roping her in was my idea. When we narrated the script she instantly connected with it. She’s a performer and a very versatile artiste. We are looking forward to a great collaboration,” he says.

Shaneil earlier worked as the Director of Photography for several Telugu blockbusters, including Kshanam and Goodachari, which were headlined by Sesh himself. He had also directed the acclaimed coming-of-age short, Layla, an official entry for the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. “When I saw that short I was blown away by the visuals and narrative. I asked him ‘when will you direct me? Since then we have discussed several story ideas. I am glad that it’s finally happening. I am excited to be directed by my best friend,” says the actor.

About his role, Sesh only said that it needs a lot of preparation. “It’s is a high-octane action drama. Soon we shall introduce the audience to the film’s universe with our first look and character posters,” he said.
