It’s quite common these days to put out untenable figures on entertainers’ purported pay cheques. Last it was heard that Kapil Sharma was supposed to walk off with a pay package of Rs 110 crore in 2017, for his appearance in The Kapil Sharma Show.
However, sources in the know laugh off the exorbitant figure. “This is someone’s idea of giving Kapil a posh reputation; India’s best paid stand-up comedian. Our very own Jerry Seinfeld,” says a source. “To throw a mind blowing sum for his television show will also help Kapil get a better deal as a film actor, as he’s very keen to start a second feature film soon,” said the insider adding that Kapil will be paid approximately half of the figure quoted.
