Rashmika trolled for promoting chicken burger

She's accused of changing her words once said she's a vegetarian, and is now eating chicken burger in an advertisement

Hyderabad: Rashmika Mandanna has become the target of trolls, this time for endorsing a chicken burger. Netizens are calling her out saying that she had earlier claimed to be a vegetarian/eggetarian. Some went so far as to call her a ‘liar’ and ‘hypocrite’.

Alia Bhatt was called out for promoting Parle Frooti, a sugary drink, when she claimed she does not consume sugar. Akshay Kumar was trolled for promoting Vimal Elaichi pan masala because he often talks of leading a healthy and lifestyle.

Allu Arjun is endorsing a private educational institution now and people wonder if he will ever send his son to that college!

There’s also a belief that many celebrities do not in fact use the products they endorse. For instance, Shah Rukh Khan endorsed the Santro car when it was launched in India but in several interviews, he has said that he uses his favourite car, Pajero.

Likewise the many Indian beauty creams or cosmetic products stars endorse, surely is not what they use!

NOTHING ILLEGAL

Filmmaker Mani Shankar, who has also directed over 2000 ad films, says celebrities know they have to make money while they are in demand because of their limited shelf life, and sees nothing wrong in that. “Celebs are in the hands of agencies who get the brands to be endorsed,” he says.

“Celebs are trying to make a living when the going is good. Moreover, they are not doing anything illegal and everyone knows that the celeb personally has nothing to do with the brand. So why target a celeb?” he asks.
