Anil Kapoor to collaborate with Netflix, give nod to show on lines of Inside Edge?
Anil Kapoor is apparently in advanced talks with a web giant to create an original series to roll out of Indian soil. Sources say that Seven Stories, a UK-based company has been holding talks with Anil to collaborate on a series. Directors Sharon Maguire and Anand Tucker who had last year inked a deal with Netflix for a series based on the book Selection Day want to rope in Anil Kapoor.
Interesting-ly, Amazon had come out with a show Inside Edge on cricket and corruption a while ago. Selection Day, too, is a book based on the same subject written by Aravind Adiga of White Tiger fame. Anil broke into international limelight with Slumdog Millionaire and later with Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol. He had also taken the Indian rights of the TV series 24.
A source says, “Anil has also acquired the rights of the sitcom Modern Family to be made as a TV series. He is keen to collaborate not just on Selection Day but on another series called Again which is a female-based detective series on the lines of Criminal Minds. But things haven’t been locked yet. It is not clear if Anil will act in any of them as well,” says a source.
