Laal Singh Chaddha tanks! Find out if #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha played its part

Amid all the hullabaloo, the official remake of the legendary comedy-drama Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha has hit the screens on Thursday and no, it is not impressing movie-goers.

The film has received thumbs down from both critics and fans alike, with Aamir Khan’s “not-so-great performance” being the talking point. The film is not faring well, and there are reports of occupancy for the morning show on day 1 of release being dismal at mere 15-20%.

It is likely that the disappointing turnout for yet another much-hyped movie is sending shockwaves in Bollywood, which has not seen any big hits in the recent past.

Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, movie critic Taran Adarsh has said “Let’s not make comparisons with Forrest Gump, let’s put that aside... the first half of the film has no terrific moments, but the second half of the film goes completely downhill.”

Not only does Taran refuse to compare it with the Tom Hank’s legendary Forrest Gump, but he also refuses to compare Laal Singh Chaddha with Aamir Khan’s earlier movies like 3 Idiots and Ghajini.

The “#BoycottLaalSinngChaddha” trend, he thinks has not part to play in the movie tanking so bad.

“If the film was worth it, people would have watched it in any case but is not worth the hype and does not live up to expectations,” Taran says making it clear that the social media trend has little to do with the response.
