At the trailer launch of her upcoming film Banjo, among the many questions darted at the film’s lead actress Nargis Fakhri, was one about her rumoured estranged boyfriend Uday Chopra. She, however, evaded it saying, “Your question is irrelevant, so it is quite sad. I don’t think you should continue.” When prodded further, it was her co-star Riteish Deshmukh who did the talking. “Are you kidding me? I am her spokesperson, I will answer this question,” he shot back.
Earlier this year, after the news of Nargis-Uday breakup spread like wildfire, Uday finally broke his silence on the matter. He sent out a statement via his spokesperson that read, “I normally don’t respond to gossip, but the press has been reporting a lot of fiction disguised as fact. I would just like to clarify that Nargis and I have been, and still are very close friends. The press has done a wonderful job of creating stories out of thin air and I applaud their creativity. However, these are all untrue.”
There were also reports that claimed that Nargis had a nervous breakdown and flew out to New York, because Uday had turned down her marriage proposal. Soon after, Nargis’s spokesperson too had dismissed those talks saying that she had only gone back home to recuperate from her illness.
