Producers Council supports CBFC step on destroying piracy

CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has made it mandatory for movies to be submitted exclusively via DCP format for evaluation.

Mumbai: IFTPC (Indian Film & TV Producers Council) has declared that it supports and respects the decision of Censor Board Chief Pahlaj Nihalani, for making it mandatory for the producers to submit their films on DCP (Digital Cinema Package) for Censor evaluation.

They find his prompt response in the wake of the ever-expanding piracy issue to be commendable, and believe in its potential to help producers fight it. Piracy has been an issue of concern for the film fraternity and they find his efforts to be diligent.

IFTPC office bearers Sajid Nadiadwala (President), Ramesh Taurani (Vice President), Ratan Jain (Vice president), N.R. Pachisia (General Secretary), Vijay Galani (Governing Council), J.D. Majethia and Harry Baweja stand by the initiative and are working towards its fulfillment.

The step by the CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani to see films exclusively in DCP format and a compulsion on voluntary submission of DCP on the collection of Censor Certificate is believed to be in the right direction as the producer community will be rightfully reaping the benefits of it at large. IFTPC also stated that they are seeking partners in their fight against piracy and are thankful for the initiative.

Filmmaker Vijay Galani, a member of IFTPC's Governing Council, also reiterated that it’s been officially made mandatory for all producers to submit their film for Certification exclusively via DCP. The CBFC Chief would be accepting no other form of communication.

Filmmaker N.R. Pachisia pointed out that the producers aren’t the only ones losing money but also the state government which loses a huge chunk of money in entertainment taxes because of piracy.

Here’s to hoping that our films are in for a fair, piracy-free run at the ticket counter.
