Not a victim, but a soft target: Sunny Leone opens up on her biopic Karenjit Kaur

Everyone knows who Sunny Leone is, but not everyone is acquainted with her life story. And that’s about to change. The actress’ biopic, Karenjit Kaur: the untold story of Sunny Leone, is all set to be released as a web-series.

Talking about her experience filming the biopic and revealing the hard truths of her life, Sunny says, “I had to tell a lot of stories that I didn’t want to. I narrated my stories over a period of six months. And later, they were turned into a journey of 20 episodes. There were a lot of laughs and a lot of tears during the narration.”

The actress wasn’t convinced from the beginning that she wanted her life to be laid bare for all to see. “I am still trying to convince myself that it’s fine. But, from what I’ve seen, it’s been shot really beautifully. I am still on the fence about whether this was the right choice for me or the wrong one,” she says.

The first season of the show focuses on Sunny and her relationship with her parents. “I had an emotional outburst on set every day. It was hard; it is still hard. In the first season you will get to know my parents, and in the second season you’ll get to know me,” she says.

And though Sunny is often targeted for her past, she refuses to think of herself as a victim. “I don’t think I have been victimised. I don’t see myself as a victim, maybe a soft target. People have the right to say what they want, whether it’s right or wrong. How they live their lives is their choice; they have their own story. Most of the time, I brush off what people say. As a rational person, you know when someone’s talking nonsense. But do they get on my nerves? Sometimes. Does this hurt me? Yes. Is it annoying? Yes,” she says.
