How Swara Bhasker was 'shameless' before Raanjhanaa and what changed after release

The actress talks about digital space and how excited she is to be part of that future.

Swara Bhasker has explored parallel and commercial cinema. She has also inspired many actresses to take up challenging roles. After being part of some memorable movies, the actress is now exploring a new visual territory, the web space. Talking about her foray into web series, the actress says, “I have three web series which are extremely interesting. The web space has opened up in an amazing way. The digital space has created a lot of roles, and that’s the future. I am excited to be part of that future.” Swara is also happy with the remuneration she receives from her web-based projects. “Web pays me really well, also, it's about being able to negotiate your price and luckily for me, I am in a place where people think I bring real value to their table so I am quite satisfied,” says the actress.

The actress, who has come a long way in the industry, says she became financially independent only after doing a film like Raanjhanaa. “Now, I am fully independent and run my own house. After Raanjhanaa, I became financially independent. Till then, I was shameless and used to ask money from my parents. I had no such pride that I will not take money from my family,” says the 30-year-old.

The blunt and fearless actress, who is known for being vocal about her opinions on social media, says that sometimes, she finds the backlash hurtful.

“It affects me. It makes me feel angry and sometimes, I don't understand how much hatred there can be in the world. But then, I feel like I believe it's important to speak up and I will continue to do that,” says Swara.
