Farhan Akhtar to star in Mohit Suri's next film, will play a boxer
Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar’s act as Milkha Singh in the latter’s biopic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has been his biggest hit as an actor and the multi-talented artiste earned praises for building an amazing physique for his role.
Farhan is all set to return as a sportsperson, this time as a boxer, in a film to be directed by ‘Aashiqui 2’ fame Mohit Suri.
Mohit, who is riding high on the success of his last film ‘Half Girlfriend’ despite it being panned by a majority of critics, has finalised his next project and has decided to cast Farhan in it.
“Goldie (Behl) and I approached Farhan recently with my script on a father-son relationship. He really liked it. I need another actor for the role parallel to Farhan, when he plays the son,” Mohit told dna.
He added, “Farhan and I spoke about the script, and he thinks it’s brilliant.”
While ‘Bhaag Milka Bhaag’ was inspired by Milkha Singh’s life, this film is inspired from Mohit’s own life.
“The story is close to my own relationship with my father, except that the film has boxing as its backdrop. I was eight when my mother passed away, and my father raised me on his own. The story is about the struggle he faced as a single dad at 36… I’m excited about bringing my real-life story to the screen.”
All of Mohit’s films have had romance as a crucial component, but this might be his first film outside the love story genre. But with Farhan’s rumoured girlfriend Shraddha Kapoor being a Mohit Suri favourite, we could see the ‘Rock On 2’ pair reuniting again.
