Dia Mirza turns global citizen

Dia is one among five other influential public figures across the globe who have been assigned as the new SDG advocates by the UN Secretary-General.

Former Miss Asia Pacific and actress Dia Mirza has once again joined hands with the United Nations to help them in their efforts to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Dia, who is also the brand ambassador for the Wildlife Trust of India, will take up the role to add more weight to her work on raising awareness and seeking solutions to environmental issues that the world and India in particular faces.

“I feel honoured and inspired by this opportunity to work with UN Environment to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. Environmental issues will be the defining challenge of this era, and I am committed to helping the UN as a Goodwill Ambassador and do everything I can to provide a better future. In the next five years, India will become the most populous country in the world. Our choices will define the human narrative and it is imperative to achieve the SDGs in our nation for the sake of peace, prosperity and the planet,” says Dia.
