Prernaa Arora controversy: The 'PadMan' producer spends birthday in jail
Producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment has been in the middle of controversies for some time now. First the legal battle with actor-producer John Abraham and now a fraud. The Economic Officials Wing (EOW) took the producer into custody for alleged financial mismanagement on Saturday — also happens to be her birthday — for allegedly duping producer Vashu Bhagnani of Rs 31 crore. Her father Virender Arora, also a producer, is said to have broken down in the court after the judge ordered her custody.
In an interview with the writer earlier, Prernaa had accused her enemies of ganging up against her. “I worked on trust with many people. I didn’t read the fine print in the documents because I always thought the film fraternity is a large family that we are all part of. I was wrong. I was taken for a ride,” she had said. In the past, Prernaa had a fallout with Kedarnath director and producer Abhishek Kapoor when the latter had accused the director of resource wastage on the shoot. In return, Abhishek had leveled allegations of non-payment of dues against her. Later, Ronnie Screwvala pitched in as the producer for Kedarnath. In her feud with John Abraham, the actors JA Entertainment has dragged Prernaa’s company to court on three criminal charges including cheating, breach of trust, defamation, and offense committed under the IT act. At that time, Prernaa was co-producing Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran. But later John terminated the contract with KriArj.
