Is Rajinikanth set to make political debut on his birthday?
Mumbai: After Kamal Haasan, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is likely to announce his political debut on his birthday on December 12. Media reports suggest the veteran actor will neither join the right wing nor the left wing. Rather, he would form his own party.
"Rajini would form a separate party. He will not join any other party, including the BJP," said the source.
Rajini has influenced only one election, the 1996 general elections to the Lok Sabha and the assembly, in Tamil Nadu. In 1998, despite Rajini's support, the DMK-TMC front fared poorly in the LS polls. On his own, Rajini may not be able to win an election. His success will depend on forming together a winnable alliance, but that is a big challenge ahead.
In August, The ‘Kabali’ star first hinted about his entry into politics.
"Being spiritual, Rajini cannot be a Leftist. Not being a hardliner, he cannot be a Rightist too. He will be a centrist as that alone will attract all sections of society," the source added.
Seaking of his movies, Rajinikanth is excited about the trailer release of Shankar’s '2.0' co-starring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The film is currently scheduled to release on Republic Day weekend. His other movie 'Kaala' is expected to be released in 2018, too.
