Is This Why Chandramukhi Release Was Postponed?

The big ticket entertainer has B-town queen Kangana Ranaut and Lawrence in the lead roles and it is being helmed by veteran director P Vasu.

After the action adventure ‘Saalar’ which was delayed due to imperfect recreation of three fictional cities, it is now the turn of horror thriller ‘Chandramukhi 2’ to suffer VFX woes. The big ticket entertainer has B-town queen Kangana Ranaut and Lawrence in the lead roles and it is being helmed by veteran director P Vasu.

“Visual effects team from Mumbai has delivered poor quality work and the director was a bit unhappy. He had a lengthy conversion with the 6-member visual effects team and urged them to come up with more authentic palace works. He also asked for a few other corrections in songs and other parts to deliver a visual spectacle. Hence the film's release was postponed to September 28,” says a source from Chennai.

It seems that visual effects have become more important for filmmakers and they don’t mind pushing the dates of release these days. “There are few visual effects teams in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, who take on the job of adding visual splendor to big ticket movies. With shooting at original palaces and creating fictional cities becoming costlier, they need the support of VFX, so filmmakers rely on graphics teams to expand their visual imagination,” he adds.

With young audiences becoming more aware of real and CG works in movies, it has become very difficult for filmmakers to compromise. “Young audiences are exposed to world cinema and easily detect real cities from fake, so filmmakers are taking no chances,” he concludes.
