Lipstick Under my Burkha actor Aahana Kumra, who will be seen as Priyanka Gandhi in The Accidental Prime Minister, says she was excited when she got to know more about Priyanka who is otherwise a very private person.
Aahana says, “She is not someone who is out there, she is not much in the limelight so YouTube was a great teacher and helped me with my research work. In politics, everybody wants to be in the limelight but she is happy about not being popular. She is such a mystery for this whole country and that’s what makes her interesting.”
“She is a very self-assured woman, she is in control of herself. She is a smart woman; I am grateful to play her on screen,” she added.
The film is based on the book of the same name written by Sanjaya Baru, who served as a media advisor for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In the film, Anupam Kher plays the title role and Akshaye Khanna will be seen as Baru. Aahana who has done a lot of content-driven films also reveals how politically aware she is.
She says, “I come from a politically literate family so I am aware of politics. I also feel a lot of films are not made on politics. And when they are made, most of them are always fictitious characters. We hope people start making more political dramas.”
