Film director Kamal rues Vidya Balan move

Kamal said that he was not convinced about Vidya Balan's reply.

Kozhikode: Film director Kamal has voiced concerns over actor Vidya Balan’s refusal to associate with his biopic ‘Aami’ on the late writer Kamala Surayya. She was keeping off the shooting for the film saying that she was not prepared to do the role of Kamala, though she had agreed to do it earlier. Kamal said that he was not convinced about Vidya Balan's reply.

It may be recalled that the actor allegedly faced threats from the Shiv Sena over her association with the director, who is the chairman of the State Chalachithra Academy.

Recently, Kamal had courted controversy in connection with the playing of the national anthem before the screening of the movies during the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Some BJP workers had sung the national anthem in front of his house when 11 of the delegates refused to stand up at the IFFK show.

“She informed me about her inconvenience just five days before the shooting that was scheduled to begin on December 19. She just said she was not prepared. In further communication from her office, it was explained that the strike in the industry was the reason for her hesitation. However, the strike has not affected the shooting of any films till now,” said Kamal.
