Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal empire
Rohit Shetty — who recently decided to name his next series in the Golmaal series as Golmaal Five — is also planning to make many more films under the same brand.
“He is looking at the next ten years to roll out films till Golmaal Ten at least,” says a source, adding that he has sent multiple titles to the film title registering services under the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA).
“Apart from Golmaal Five, he has registered Golmaal Six, Golmaal Seven, Golmaal Eight, Golmaal Nine and Golmaal Ten, apart from registering the same title with numerals as well. And when it is made, Golmaal Five will be the first Indian film to have a fifth part in a franchise. Even the Housefull guys are planning a fifth part, but this one will come out earlier. And then Rohit is planning to reel in one film from the franchise every two years,” says our source.
The fourth part of Golmaal — Golmaal Again — went on to be the biggest film from the franchise, collecting over Rs 200 crores. Even Housefull 4, despite scathing reviews, managed to touch that mark.
