Bose Dead/Alive trailer: Best Indian historical work till date?
Mumbai: Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta have had a very fruitful liaison. While their first, 'Shahid,' wone Rajkummar his maiden National award for Best actor, their second, 'Aligarh,' was equally acclaimed, though the film won more accolades for protagonist Manoj Bajpayee.
Now, before the release of their feature film together, 'Omerta,' the two are back with their web-series on controversial Indian freedom struggle figure, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Rajkummar, who plays the eponymous leader of the Indian resistance against the British empire, aided by Hitler's Nazi army and Japan's Imperialists, has sunk his teeth into the skin of the character quite adeptly.
The trailer, much more elaborate and impressive than its predecessor, works well courtesy its art direction and Rajkummar's convincing act.
The actor, who's had a superlative year with three extremely well-received performances in 'Trapped,' 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' and 'Newton,' gained weight and semi-tonsured his head to look as close to the role as possible.
Hansal's previous release, the Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Simran' might have tanked badly at the box-office, but he seems to be on course to deliver a winner, this time round. Could this be the best historical work to come out on Indian screens?
One must wait and watch.
