SRK\'s Security Upgraded After Death Threats

As fans and admirers of the beloved actor express their concerns, the authorities remain committed to ensuring Shah Rukh Khan\'s safety.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has upgraded the security cover for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to the Y-plus category after multiple threats to him. The actor will pay for the expenditure incurred by the state government on his security.

The decision to enhance the security of the actor was taken last week after a review at a high powered committee meeting.

Shahrukh Khan had given a written complaint to the state government stating that he had been receiving death threats calls after the release of his recent films 'Pathan' and 'Jawan.'

In response to this, the state governments directed the IG VIP security to upgrade the actor's security.

The granted security service will be privately funded and Shahrukh will be responsible for covering the associated costs of it. The actor will be paying the amount to the state government.

According to the Maharashtra government's policy, security cover is provided to citizens who face a threat to life. In such cases, the citizens have to pay a fee or deposit a security amount for the protection.

Y+ security is granted to people facing high threat perception. Under this security cover, the protected person gets accompanied by six armed commandos 24/7. He or she is given or total of 11 security personnel, out of which four are from the state police department, six commandos and a traffic clearance vehicle. The four policemen will remain at individual's residence while the six commandos are provided to travel with the individual all the time.

Apart from Shahrukh Khan, two more celebrities from the Hindi film industry - Salman Khan and Kangana Ranaut - currently have Y+ category of security, while film maker Vivek Agnihotri has Y category security.
